Don't Miss: At one point in its history Amman was called Philadelphia, named after its Egyptian ruler Philadelphus in the third century B.C. The Jordan Archaeological Museum in Amman is a great place to learn about its history dating back to prehistoric times. The museum includes a Dead Sea Scrolls exhibit, rare Iron Age sarcophagi and other priceless relics.

Fun Fact: Arabic coffee is served continuously at social gatherings in Jordan, as it is quite popular. To signal to the server that you don’t want any more, tilt your cup slightly when handing it over. Otherwise, your cup will automatically be refilled.
